A Bylaw Services Community Peace Officer observed a sports car excessively speeding on MacDonald Dr. near MacDonald Island in downtown Fort McMurray. During a routine laser speed enforcement event, the driver was recorded going 107 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.

The 23-year-old driver was pulled over by the officer and received an automatic mandatory court appearance for exceeding the posted speed limit by more than 51 km/h.

Bylaw Services reminds everyone to drive safely and within the speed limit. Schools will be back in session in only a couple of weeks, and drivers are reminded to take extra precautions in school zones.

On all school days, the speed limit is 30 km/h from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
